Convert Oven Temperature for International Recipe

A cook in Europe receives an American recipe that calls for 350°F. They convert it to Celsius for their oven.

Input

Recipe calls for 350°F (conventional oven)

Output

Celsius: 177°C | Gas Mark: 4

How It Works

Temperature conversion between Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin follows specific mathematical formulas. Celsius is based on water's freezing point (0°C) and boiling point (100°C). Fahrenheit was historically scaled so the human body temperature was approximately 100°F (now 98.6°F). Kelvin starts at absolute zero (-273.15°C) and is used in scientific contexts. The formulas: C to F: multiply by 9/5 and add 32; F to C: subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9; C to K: add 273.15. This tool performs all these calculations instantly. Frequently Asked Questions

°F = (°C × 9/5) + 32. For example, 100°C = (100 × 9/5) + 32 = 212°F.
